More than 95% of Texas land is privately owned. Yet, as the state’s population continues to grow, so has the demand for projects deemed “for a public purpose” allowing for the taking of private property through eminent domain.

Today Texas landowners are faced with an unfair set of laws that unduly favors a condemning entity over the rights of private property owners.

It is the mission of Texas Landowners for Eminent Domain Reform (TxLEDReform) to educate officials and the general public, develop policy, and support legislation that will level the playing field to better protect private property rights.
